sponsorships

Sponsorship monies allow Spectrum Care to continue to provide critical initiatives which enhance various aspects of a disabled person’s life. Sponsorship also allows us to build a firm foundation to assist the people we serve with their integration into the community.

Our communications team works diligently alongside the media on all aspects of Spectrum Care’s activities, including our sponsored events and programmes.

Sponsor organisations benefit from exposure via our marketing materials, including our quarterly newsletter Across the Spectrum, which are sent to each individual we serve and our dedicated staff members, as well as over 1000 family members, physicians, politicians, schools, hospitals and the general public.

Additionally, chief advisers and directors of the Ministry of Health receive a copy of our Annual Report, which lists in detail our sponsors and partnering companies.

We have an array of yearly events which further reinforce our sponsor relationship, including our Annual Ball (a formal gala with approximately 400 guests every year) and Art Exhibition (which features talents from our Aspirations Day Centres).

A partnership with our organisation is a collaborative exercise aimed at building community engagement and goodwill for both the sponsor organisation and Spectrum Care.

For more information on sponsorships, contact our Communications and Relationships Manager – Justin Walsh – on 09 634 9788 or email justin.walsh@spectrumcare.org.nz.

bequests

Since its inception, Spectrum Care has benefited from legacies and bequests and this tradition has continued to the present day.

By making a donation through a will, supporters of Spectrum Care’s activities can be part of this tradition and play a key role in developing Spectrum Care’s capacity as a world-class service provider to the disability sector.

You’ll also be making a significant contribution toward the lives of people with disabilities now and in the future. Bequest donations directly assist the people we serve by providing resources and supporting initiatives to ensure that Spectrum Care continues to help people with disabilities live great lives.

A bequest or endowed gift keeps giving forever and even modest gifts can provide lasting benefits.

Bequests can take a variety of forms:

  • Specific bequest – This is a gift of a fixed sum of money, property, shares and/or valuables of various descriptions
  • Percentage of estate – As the title would suggest, this is a gift of a specific percentage of your estate
  • Residual bequest – This type of gift involves leaving all or a portion of the remaining assets of your estate after all debts, taxes, fees and other bequests have been paid
  • Deferred bequest – This is a gift that provides for any relatives or friends during their lifetimes, but also benefits Spectrum Care after their deaths

Making a bequest is a powerful way of supporting Spectrum Care, often at a level not possible during your lifetime.

Leave a legacy that lasts – make a difference; make a bequest.

For more information on bequests, contact our Communications and Relationships Manager – Justin Walsh – on 09 634 9788 or email justin.walsh@spectrumcare.org.nz.

volunteers

Volunteering provides an opportunity to meet people, learn new skills, share existing skills and give something back to your community.

Spectrum Care is currently in the process of developing our capability to work with volunteers and, while we are not currently able offer specific opportunities to volunteers, we would be very interested to hear from you if you are interested in volunteering with our organisation.

As soon as we are able, we will contact prospective volunteers and begin working with them, with the aim of helping people with disabilities live great lives.

What do volunteers do?

Some of the many ways that volunteers can help members include:

  • Assisting Spectrum Care’s service users with recreation and social activities
  • Providing support for Spectrum Care's services
  • Helping with local fundraising projects

Thomas Tolley

Thomas Tolley has lived in a Spectrum Care residential home for several years and, in 2007, enrolled with Aspiration Services’ Kumeu Activity Centre.

Though Thomas came to the centre with limited social skills, he had an abiding fascination with metal and identified photography as a tool with which to explore this fascination.

Thomas immediately enrolled in a photography course and set out on a journey that would open new paths and opportunities for him.
